Mi sbaglio io o alcune applicazioni sono un pò buggate? L'avanzamento sta sempre a 0% e poi salta a 100%...

Evviva! un computer in più fa sempre bene..

Dunque.. io per il momento non sto scaccolando su PrimeGrid, però ricordo che certe applicazioni indicavano l'avanzamento dell'elaborazione in modo strano nel senso che la percentuale di completamento non aumentava in maniera regolare ma addirittura ad intervalli di 20-30% a botta. Però tali wu venivano comunque elaborate bene, senza errori. Magari dovrebbero aggiustare un pochino il codice.. pare che vada tutto bene in fondo...

Io per un pò di tempo non mi potrò connettere più così frequentemete come facevo prima.. per vari motivi non posso. Sono un pò incasinato tra studi e altre cose...
Ci tenevo a dirvelo in anticipo.. perché non potrò, già a partire da questi giorni, seguire i vari aggiornamenti dei progetti e tutto il resto.
Non è niente di grave ma sono davvero incasinato.. mi dispiace lasciare per un pò questo forum ma non posso fare altrimenti.. spero di tornare presto a postare qui!

We've switched 3*2^n-1 subproject, which has been completed to n=5M and had no more work, to 3*2^n+1. The tasks are significantly shorter now (in the range of minutes), but it will change quite rapidly as we progress through the test space.

The Prime Sierpinski Project has discovered their second mega prime: 258317*2^5450519+1. It is 1640776 digits long and will rank as the 12th largest known prime. The project has now found 17 primes total. There are only 12 primes left to solve the Prime Sierpinski Problem. For more information, please see this forum post.

PrimeGrid server was inaccessible for about 30 minutes because the network at the datacenter where PrimeGrid and BOINCstats are hosted was down. The datacenter technicians seem to have brought the network back up, but we have no idea if it's going to stay up (the support phones of the hosting provider are down).

Update 18:11 UTC: it seems that the power was cut to the building; the servers were forcibly rebooted. I'm checking for stuck system processes now.
Update 18:15 UTC: validator was stuck; it's fixed now. I think everything is running smooth now.

Sirius has retreated to the horizon, but he refuses to go into the night sky without a prime. While the Challenge is over, the Dog Days remain...so let's put Sirius to sleep by finding that prime. It will take another 3-6 days for most results to be paired and declared valid. Therefore, Challenge rankings will not be finalized until then.

The WU deadline was set to 3 days so unpaired results should be cleaned up quickly. For those who are interested in helping clean up these results, just leave your machines crunching 321 LLR for another 3 days.

The prime number qualifies for the Electronic Frontier Foundation $100,000 award for discovery of the first 10 million digit prime number.By the way, the second prime discovered less than two weeks later was also more than 10 million digits. Less than three days remain in the Back to the Future Challenge. There's still a battle for the top spot with BOINCstats holding off a fierce charge by the Canadians! Uhm il Sieving non è propriamente una ricerca di numeri primi.

In pratica, per mezzo di un programma (tramite BOINC o "manualmente"), si trovano i numeri che sicuramente non sono primi, per dare poi in pasto i restanti al Primality test che dovrà così testare meno numeri.

Ad esempio:

p | k*b^n+-1
7266111922899983 | 79817*2^45327351+1

p=7266111922899983 (questo è il valore che è arrivato a 10P)
k=79817
b=2
n=45327351

Questo significa che 7266111922899983 è un fattore di 79817*2^45327351+1. Quindi, 79817*2^45327351+1 non è primo e non deve essere testato con il "Primality Check" (LLR). 79817*2^45327351+1 verrà quindi rimosso dai possibili candidati primi.
